The controversial plans for a high speed train track continues to meet with strong protest from local residents in the Val di Susa area of North West Italy bordering with France. The No TAV (Treno ad Alta Velocità) movement paraded in the area yesterday protesting about the governments plans which they consider to be a useless waste of public money as well as damaging to their local environment. The train would link Turin with Lyon in France for both passenger and goods service.

A meeting of TAV supporters, led by the Mayor of Turin Sergio Chaimparino took place today in the more comfortable surroundings of the Lingotto congress centre in Turin. A No TAV protest camp had been burned down overnight.
