Former Italian Big Brother (Grande Fratello) contestant Pietro Taricone has died in hospital in Terni, Umbria after a parachute accident yesterday. He was 35.
Mr Taricone became famous during the first edition of the Italian version of the popular reality with his cocky yet sincere attitude and muscular build. He remained a celebrity after coming third in the show in 2000 and immediately undertook a career as actor starring in various films, and TV series including most recently the popular Tutti Pazzi Per l’Amore in 2008, and just a few weeks ago with a lead role in an episode of RaiDue’s Crimini series.
He was also a regular contributor to the current affairs programme Niente di Personale on La7 giving his own personal view of political events in Pietro la notizia.
Taricone was a keen and expert parachutist and the cause of the accident which ultimately caused hi death are still not known. He leaves behind his partner Ms Kasia Smutniak and a 6 year old daughter Sophie.
